System status
iDentiCal Sync runs on your own hardware, so there is no central service for us to have status of. Here's what to check when something feels off — and which third-party status pages actually matter to your sync.
Why isn't there a status dashboard?
Most SaaS products publish a status page because their service runs on infrastructure they control. iDentiCal Sync is different: it is a Windows Service installed on your own computer. Walker IT Support does not host, proxy, or relay your appointment data. If iDentiCal Sync stops syncing on your machine, the issue is almost always on your machine, your network, OpenDental, or Google — not on a Walker IT Support server, because there is no Walker IT Support server in the path.
What your sync actually depends on
| Dependency | Where it runs | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Your practice PC | On-prem | Check the iDentiCal Sync tray app — it shows last sync, service state, and any errors. |
| OpenDental MySQL | On-prem (your practice network) | If OpenDental works at the front desk, the database is up. If iDentiCal Sync reports a DB error in the tray, it's a network or credentials issue. |
| Google Calendar API | Google infrastructure | Google Workspace Status Dashboard · Google Cloud Status |
| Your internet connection | Your ISP | If ping 8.8.8.8 fails, neither sync nor anything else internet-facing will work. iDentiCal Sync will retry automatically when the connection returns. |
When sync stops — what to check, in order
- Open the iDentiCal Sync tray app. It shows last sync timestamp and any active error. Most problems are diagnosable here in 30 seconds.
- Run a test sync from the tray. If it succeeds, the engine is healthy and the issue is likely transient.
- Check the Google Workspace Status Dashboard. A Calendar-side outage will resolve itself; iDentiCal Sync will resume on the next poll once Google is healthy.
- Check the practice's internet connection.
- Check OpenDental is running and reachable from the reception PC.
- Email support@identicalsync.com with the contents of the last 100 lines of the iDentiCal Sync log (the tray app has a "Copy log tail" button). We respond within 2 UK business days.
Major incidents on our side
The only things that affect every practice at once are: (a) an OAuth verification change at Google that revokes our app credentials, or (b) a bug we introduced in a release. If either happens, we email all practices on the active Support & Updates Plan directly. There is no service to take down — only software releases to roll back.
